yesterday...
stayed at home until mid afternoon...
where i went out to cut my hair...
kinda bad cut...
it's short...
and still very fluffy...
wad a cut to see me into school...
haiz...
met the guy at far east...
apparently he wanted to eat noodles and rice...
but actually he just wanted to look for his waist pouch...
found out that shih lin started selling tian bu la...
(but according to my parents...
the IMM outlet started eons ago...)
but we're both on diet...
walked ard far east...
then went back to his place for a nice long chat...
which was coerced, by the way...
i felt we havent had a good conversation in a long time...
(you have to exclude the crappy lame stuff...)
he sent me back home...
but not before taking a wrong turn...
not on purpose to give me a surprise...
and i made him stop by selegie for my favourite dou jiang...

today started at 7am...
had to make my way to school at 0830hrs...
for Rag stuff...
the backdrop seems rather "woahhh"...
hope it survives Rag day...
had fun though...
getting glue, silver spray, black paint on my hands...
laughing like mad hyena with the guys...
talking non-stop to qingzhang and yuanshuo about taiwan...
the former just visited taipei in may...
and the latter is also half Taiwanese...
(not that i am...)
one thing i noticed...
is that i'm a very good target for suaning...
i know i always say wanqi very good target...
but when she's not around...
i think i kena it good...
maybe it's coz i'm the least feminine girl around...
then they tend NOT to suan ku niang girls...
wah lau...
i kena suaned left, right and center i tell you...
and it's not as if i know them very well...
and thats what i told them...
not that i mind also...
somehow it makes me feel accepted...
how desperate...
coz i was kinda worried about not being able to fit into the group...
having missed so many sessions of constructions already...
it was good i guess...
good...
met the guy...
supposedly to read...
but i din have lunch...
so we had an early dinner at bugis...
so that he could go get his waist pouch...
had my favourite bak chor mee...
actually ONLY becoz it was the only thing i ever tried there...
milk tea from MOS...
wanted to get my lariat fixed at Perlini's Silver...
coz the 1m long thing broke the other day...
but the best they could do was charge me 6bucks...
and solder it together...
leaving an ugly bump after 2 weeks...
wat the crap...
the guy soldered it for me at his place FOC in ten minutes...
got bump...
but oh well...
bought a denim skirt as well...
yeah...
i feel fat...
i swore i saw cellulite in the dressing room...
gawd!
wait a minute...
i KNOW i am fat...
darn...
*depression mode*
parents picked me from his place...
so i'm back early today...

excerpt from car conversation with parents...
mom: "clubs are no good...thats where the one night stands usually start..."
me: "what's one night stand?"
mom: "your brother dunnoe still ok...you dont tell me you dunnoe..."
dad: "one whole night stand on one leg?"
me: "nono...club no space to sit...so ONE whole NIGHT have to STAND..."

okok...
i know...
NOT funny...

just struck me as i was taking the bus back from kovan today...
sweet ben gave me a ride back to kovan from school...
after the long day (of Showdowns, lame neck cramps, squeezing-mast-into-cars, being rejected by freshies) at the matriculation fair...
met my ME prof before that...
regarding USP, timetable and module mapping...
told me not to drop USP...
therefore i'm taking India and Indian Communities...
which has 2 8am lectures...
bless me...
(back to what i was saying...)
struck me that if i could meet friends on the streets...
in taiwan...(!?!?!?!)
in school...
why dont i ever bump into my ex on the streets?
not that i want to...
maybe...
you know the need to show him how much better you are doing without him?
kidding...
but truth is...
it's weird how we never met since...
he stays so near...
occasionally my bus rides go past his place...
maybe it's better this way...
for that part of my life to close off...
making way for what is to come...

here are the taiwan photos as promised...
didnt take too many photos...
coz i was trying hard to blend in into the environment...
without being an obvious tourist...
so a lot of the photos are taken with the camera beside my stomach...
or when there was no pple around...
added to that...
photos with the guy in obvious view is banned from this site...
and i'm not good with photoshop...
so i cant mosaic his face or something...
no photos of his wonderful family either...
oh well...
maybe i should have been more thick-skinned...
and take all the photos i want...

DAY 1

leaving Changi International Airport...
in a window seat...
on an SQ flight...
beat that!
it was an early flight...
0835hrs...
wah lau...
his dad had to pick me like even before the sun rose...
and send us to the airport...
first time i went overseas without my parents sending me off...
Note: Taiwan is, thus far, the furthest north i've been to so far...
just goes to show how ill-travelled i actually am...

this is his grandma's place...
which is directly behind what we would consider our Orchard Road...
the next street sells Ralph Lauren, DKNY, etc...
expensive stuff...
eeks!

our bed at his granny's place...
huge...
brought sleeping bags too...
really comfy to be wrapped warm in your own sleeping bag...
with the aircon on...
Taiwan is freaking hot at this time of the year...
as hot as sg!

our main mode of transport...
though his cousins did drive us around a lot as well...
documenting my first time riding in a Mazda3 and a Lexus...
plus rides in cabs...
and one bus ride...
this was comfy...
very spacious...
no singapore MRT kinda rush hour squeezing...

something we ate for supper EVERY night we were at his granny's place...
deep fried...
but really yummy stuff...
you choose stuff and the lady deep fries them with chopped garlic and basil leaves, i think...
i love the yan shu ji...
and he loves the tian bu la...

DAY 2

spent most of the day around Taipei's city hall...
where Taipei 101 was...
plus a lot of expensive shopping malls...
watched Coach Carter there too...
not bad a movie...
great bball moves...
and who doesnt love Samuel L. Jackson?
dinner was at Chilli's with the cousins...
not very nice...
and quite expensive too...
went on to visit tong hua nite markets too...
didnt buy anything i think...
was just too tired after the whole day...

Taipei 101...
pretty majestic a building...
though one wonders why they built something so big...
so high...
so green...
with so much glass on an earthquake zone...
heard it was build to withstand quakes...
but hey, who knows?

inside the shopping mall of Taipei 101...
you can even see part of the main 101 building here...

long queue outside their Mister Donut...
heard it's really popular...
and people queue to buy 10pcs a person...
which was the limit...
guy was right...
Taiwanese go crazy over the weirdest things...
they go nuts over donuts...

a pink house near his granny's place...
with lotsa machines for you to catch stuff toys with...
crazy stuff...
you'd wonder how such shops survive...
but they do...
Taiwanese are crazy over these...
or so i heard...

rows and rows of scooters...
at first i thought that they were selling scooters or something...
coz all so one-design one...
until i saw it on EVERY street...
apparently they ride it a lot there...
even traffic junctions have stipulated areas for scooters to wait...
parking cars is a terrible chore over there...
and pple practically park all over the place...
first time seeing people (his cousin) parking in front of other pples' cars...
and leaving his HP number on the dashboard...
so that pple can call him to move...
something unheard of in sg...

DAY 3

had pai ku fan for lunch...
then made our way to xi men ting...
the Far East Plaza of Taiwan...
all the young punks shop around here...
dinner was thai with the usual suspects...
the cousins plus a da biao ge...
who was really really funny...
the ultimate was...
(imagine in mandarin)
"my wife and i speak english at home too..."
*everyone raises eyebrows*
"come here, bitch."
*everyone laughs and threatens to report him*
"ya, she says that to me."
after that we made our way to his uncle's empty home in xin bei tou...
super far away...

one of the streets in xi men ting...
loads of shopping...
but kinda expensive too...
someone quoted me SGD50 for 3 pairs of earrings...
probably hearing us speak english and concluding we werent local...
we managed to get one of the three somewhere else for 5 bucks...-_-"

xin bei tou MRT station...
the one at his granny's place is underground...

really pretty mountains...
on the train ride downtown...
love the way the hills/mountains contrasts the buildings...
something you will never find in singapore...
took a lot of pictures like these...

DAY 4

woke up pretty late actually...
it was a saturday...
and we were supposed to meet the gang at xi men ting...
so that one of his cousins, a xi men ting regular, could bring us around...
into the littler alleys...
but it was like 4 cousins and one girlfriend and us...
shuffling around just for MY belt and MY bag..
can you imagine how paiseh i was?
bought on impulse la...
but i love those purchases...
lunch was Yoshinoya...
we HAD to try the fast food there...
must see whether got difference or not what...
went shih lin at night...
for the food and abit of shopping...
superbly crowded...
but it was an experience...

the view from his uncle's place...
really pretty...
minus the dilapidated buildings...
plus the green hill on the side...
it struck me how un-green Taipei was...
despite the occasional tree and such...
Singapore is REALLY the green city...
really appreciate the air here...

the hot spring tub...
which had a pipe that brought in REAL spring water...
that was murky and smelly...
but supposedly good for the skin?
had to heat it up using a heater...
and it was TOO HOT for me...
guy went it first...
for a good few minutes...
before i decided that it cooled off enough for me...
before you guys start having weird thoughts...
i WAS wearing my swim suit...

the pretty sky roof above the hot spring tub...
have a thing for sky roofs...
just found the idea of natural lighting in a house damn cool...
am so gonna get something like that...
when, and if, i have the money...

walking to the MRT station from his uncle's place...
long walk...
prespiration was practically dripping from my earrings...
damn gross...
stupid me wore my black top...
coz i stupidly let the guy choose my outfit for me...
i failed to recall that it was his favourite top of mine...

inside Shih Lin night maket...
where i bumped into Changdun...
chou dou fu is REALLY smelly...
and not that nice after all...

oyster mee sua...
prefer the one from the shih lin franchise in singapore though...
this was weirder than i thought...
got pig innards inside too!
but oni NTD30...
which equates to less than SGD1.50!

prawn rolls and chou dou fu...
didnt take pictures of the fried oyster omelette though...
that was yummy...

the nite market from the outside...
bought a bing tang hu lu...
strawberries one...
sweet + sour...
yummy!
but i didnt finish it...
threw it away coz i rather shop with empty, non-sticky hands...
hiaks!

DAY 5

went over to his granny's place pretty early...
apparently his da biao jie drove up all the way from tai chung to see him...
the lunch was a very interesting experience...
the house was really rowdy and all...
ordered bubble tea in...
which was really cheap by the way...
about 15 bucks for 10 cups...
the zhen zhu nai cha was splendid....
and rice or noodles...
they played a number of rounds of mahjong...
whahahaa...
and the guy won some money to fund our shopping...
the inventory includes boardshorts...
teeshirts...
bags....
brown belt...
earrings...
skirt...
wahhahaa....
after wu fen pu was back to the Taipei 101 area for Ruby Tuesdays...
yummy western food...
huge portions...
watched The Island there too...
guy misplaced his tickets over dinner...
so we had to buy another pair...
coz we din pay by card...
nor did we remember the seat numbers...
movies are more expensive there...
student rate was still about 12 bucks per pax...
took a cab back from there to xin bei tou...
cost us more than 20 bucks...
suddenly i feel so xing fu living in sg...

wu fen pu....
really cheap clothes...
funny part was that it was actually like a wholesale centre...
so fashion buyers from xi men ting actually come here to buy stuff to sell there...
you'll see loads of them with trolleys and huge bags...
damn funnie...
but i really wonder how come the locals dont directly come here...
especially since it's so much cheaper...
his cousin's gf told us abt how she found a jacket that she bought in xi men ting for NTD2000...
oni to find it in wu fen pu going for NTD1000...
apparently, the salesgirl told her the jacket was brought in from overseas...
yeah rite...
-_-"

our huge dinner at Ruby Tuesdays...
beef steak skewers, onion rings, prawn fritters, chicken chops and ribs...
yummilicious!
had potato skins as well...
those were topped with sour cream and bacon bits...
utterly heavenly!

DAY 6

had lunch at ding gua gua...
yummy fried chicken...
and sweet potato fries that i didnt quite like...
cousin picked us up to go back to granny's place...
made him bring me back to wu fen pu again...
got hooked on buying fake billabong, quiksilver, abercrombie, levis...
wahhaha...
=X
shhhssh!
dont tell anyone...
went with his female cousin and gang...
so we tooked the bus there...
shopped quite abit...
then dinner was at nei hu...
in a foodcourt at some miramar shopping centre...
with Asia's largest ferris wheel...
went to a 24hr bookshop ourselves...
to get last minute gifts for his cousins...
who were so sweet to bring us around...
and we were contemplating getting harry potter...
the entire series thus far...
but ney...
not his kinda book, we concluded...

public buses....
only took them once...
less than SGD1 flat...
quite comfy...

inside their public bus...
shiok aircon...
especially after considering the heat outside...
got their version of TV mobile too...

the ferris wheel...
really big...
and green again...
nothing much to see though...

the nite scene from the ferris wheel...
saw taipei's domestic airport...
Taipei 101...
saw a lot of lights...
fullstop...

the trip was, indeed, everything i expected and more...
the idea of living with him 24/7 doesnt seem that enticing anymore...
especially after the hell i been through trying to get him up from bed...
but then again...
despite being able to speak the same language as the locals there...
he was indispensable throughout the entire trip...
SHOPPING:
1. giving me advice abt the things i wanna buy..
(UGLY-OKAY-NOT BAD-LOOKS GOOD)
2. helping me bargain coz i just cant do it...
i'll just select pieces, pass to him, "your job"...
3. the money in his wallet...
but i got return him when we got back...
though i not sure whether it was enough to cover everything...
EATING:
1. bringing me around to eat his favourite food...
which are really yummy...
which i probably wouldnt have tried if not for his recommendation...
2. helping me order stuff...
coz they probably wont understand my 'fluent' mandarin...
i'm too cheem for them...
3. pestering the air stewardess for me...
for apple juice...
GETTING AROUND:
1. his connections, a.k.a. his cousins...
to give us directions...
or send us from place to place...
loaning us MRT cards...
2. his fluency in the language...
to ask for directions...
3. his always-knowing-what-to-do...
so that i can even close my eyes, grab his shirt, walk on the streets and know that i'll be safe...
COMPANY:
1. his limited vocab...
you think you very funny?
i want massage.
you want me to tickle you?
scratch my back.
wat the crap.
look at those spare tyres...
eat eat eat.
2. his being there...
thank you.

was supposed to have gone to school...
to help out with the backdrop for USP rag...
but got caught up and stressed out with the windsurf course stuff...
that i had to give that a miss...
finally got the magic number of 6...
so i guess that's another course filled...

managed to slot in, however, a short coffee session with stella mary...
talked about loads...
my trip...
her fac...
orientation...
school...
how our mocha frap tasted particularly choclatey...
probably my best mocha frap ever...
she liked the skirt i gave her...
phew...
those are really expensive in sg...
glad it was a steal at a fraction of the price...
anything for my girl...
bought a pair of studs for myself...
5 bucks for the flower kind...
the same kind i bought at mu-ee and lost at the beginning of the year...
oh well...
i liked them...
bought tau huay for my grandparents...
afternoon snack ya?
my grandad hasnt been eating a lot at lunch...
and it worries me...
but he loves tau huay coz it seems like a healthy thing i guess...

met the guy for dinner after that...
wanted to watch Crash...
but maybe not...
both of us feeling broke...
especially after i offered to treat him dinner...
and suggested Crystal Jade...
coz Linc made me gian with his description of their congee...
and he happily ordered his favourite xia qiu...
without first checking out the price...
it was freaking 17bucks...
SGD, by the way...
i paid 46 bucks for the dinner in all...
so much for offering to compensate all that he suffered during the trip...
shopped abit...
looking around for a brown tee...
coz now he gian brown also...
especially after not being able to carry off the browns that he bought in Taiwan...
didnt find one...
bumped into mervin at j8 as well...
stupid guy poked me...
=P
dropped by his place again...
so that he could send me home...
but his dad was picking pple up at the airport...
so my dad offered to pick me up instead...
i think i'm more at ease with his parents now..
especially after supermarketing with them...
and after the more intense training, on how-to-handle-relatives, in Taipei...

school tomorrow...
help abit with backdrop...
meet prof...
then matric fair till late...
i love busy lifestyle...

finally back from taiwan...
was a fantastic 6days to say the least...
damages to the pockets total up to less than a thousand per pax...
might seem a lot...
but for SQ flights...
loads of shopping...
a few restaurant dinners...
cab rides...
coffee places...
hotspring...
food, food and food...
alcohol for his dad...
it's pretty okay...
woohoo!
many thanks to his cousins who drove us around from time to time...
the warmth of his relatives at his granny's place...
where we stayed a few nites...
and the other nites at his uncle's spare house...
else we would have blown a large part of the moolah on accomodation...
wah lau...
amazing to have friends or relatives to go to when you travel...

really really feel FAT now...
with three capital letters...
oh well....
wad to do?
diets dont seem to work for me...
see how la...
all i wanted to have when i stepped off the plane today was sliced fish soup...
doesnt matter it wasnt from the top5 places i listed previously...
just sliced fish soup would do...
and i got it...
went for lunch with my parents and my sis...
serangoon gardens food centre...

went home...
check on my bids for the modules...
unpacked...
showered....
slept...
dinner....
fought with my macromedia fireworks...
which refused to shut down...
even after i popped the battery off my laptop...

NUS tomorrow...
break?
what break?
need to work on the course stuff liaoz...
bleah.
and USP backdrop stuff...

25.7.05
last day in taipei already...
leaving tmr morning on a 7am flight...
freaking early...
but we didnt have much of a choice...
TPE-SGP was just too popular a route...
i even met changdun, my engin klassmate, like two times in two days...
in shih lin and wu fen pu...
wahahha...
how qiao is that?

will update when i get back...
more shopping!

----Stef stopped rambling at 15:11

22.7.05
day 2 in Taiwan today...
went the area around Taipei 101 to shop and look see...
stuff very very ex...
even the departmental stores sells dowdy blouses for SGD250...
not to mention stuff like JPG, Gucci, Ralph Lauren and stuff...
irony is...
the only things we got today were slippers from Muji (a pair each) and a t-shirt from Esprit...
both of which we can find in sg...
wahahah...
we saw a brown top from an ulu brand as well...
simple halter with a shell clasp...
SGD120...
was definitely not within my budget...
but he liked it alot...
urgh....
why so ex???

ate at din tai fung today...
slightly cheaper than those in sg...
but service is like...
woah...
service here is very...
huan ying guang ling...
qing man man kan...
xuan le neng shi chuan ne...
man zou...
xie xie ni...
to the unintiated it was whiney, to say the least...
even at the airport duty-free...
i had goosebumps...
dinner was at Chilli...
western stuff...
couldnt finish my pasta...
but prices were...
each person more than out total bill at din tai fung..
ate with two of his cousins...
and one cousin's gf...

met more family today...
frankly it's pretty uncomfortable for me...
and truthfully...
i dont think i'm being a totally fantastic gf of a cousin/grandson/nephew...
if only i spoke mandarin better..
with more ease and confidence...
maybe i would leave a better impression...

day 3 will be xi men ting...
probably more stuff to buy...
more affordable...
yippie!
shih lin too!
and moving to his uncle's empty home...
with private hot spring!
life IS good...

20.7.05
in taipei now...
not very eventful day...
but interesting enuff...
his cousins came to pick us up at the airport...
had lunch...
proceeded on to his granny's place...
where we're staying on for a couple of nights...
housing here is almost like in hkg...
especially like the ones i see in HKG serials.
coz i havent been there before...
visited his aunt in the hospital too...
and coming back to a feast for dinner...
food, unlike what i thought, are rather different from chinese food back home...
hard to get used to...
but still good, nonetheless...
queer how the first thing his relatives ask him is whether i speak mandarin...
it's either i'm too quiet...
or am too tanned to be chinese...
walked around where his granny stays...
it's kinda like sg's orchard road...
'cept that streets are filled with shops...
so you dont have malls (with aircon) to go into...
other than departmental stores...
less comfort...
and very expensive stuff...
although i was thinking abt shopping here...
maybe i should have spent more on the GSS back in sg...
getting the things i so need...
than saving up so miserably and coming here trying to spend it...

but what really matters is that he's here with me...
not the fact that dowdy pasar-malam clothes cost 3 for SGD50...
nuthing beats the feeling of exhilaration...
stepping into taipei airport...
with his hand in mine...

added to that...
by the time i get back...
my mandarin will also be very powderful...
i will soon be able to shi shi sha sha with his parents...
and any mandarin speaking individuals...
or at least, i hope...

19.7.05
went out last evening with the bballers...
dinner at kenny rogers...
wasnt the 8 of us like i hoped...
but i managed to get 6...
which is like really great...
was a rowdy gathering...
really miss just hanging out with them...
talking crap till the cows come home...
and of course...
who can tahan not suaning serene...
hiaks!
great stuff...
they make me feel so complete...

leaving for taiwan tomorrow morning...
0835 flight...
frigging early...
but i guess that gives us enough time for the rest of the day...
i wanna go shihlin!
wahahaha...
half scared, hlaf excited...
dunnoe which more overwhelming...
6days in taiwan!
yet the typhoon had to make its housecall too...
haiz...

18.7.05
ran a number of errands today...
get painkillers, diarrhoea med, flu jab...
buy bak kwa...
which was a terrible experience, by the way...
came back home and email-ed the franchise...
salespeople were rude and everything...
collected my stuff from PA...
container, toaster, lights and wire extension...
altered my jeans...

this is my proudest achievement of today...
made a necklace from the beads i bought yesterdae...
quite ugly...
but hey...
it's my first try...
and there were limited beads that caught my fancy...

matching earrings as well...
this was ten times easier...
all i had to do was put the beads into the ready-made hoops...
ta-daa!
purposely put the beads haphazardly...
contrast the boring-ness of the necklace...

met the guy for dinner and gift shopping...
dinner and shopping, yes...
for ourselves la...
really dunnoe what to buy for his relatives...
dinner was at the new burger joint...
Carl's Jr...
the one with Paris Hilton in the advert in the US...
it was humongous...
the large fries was like the US Mac's...
before Supersized Me! came out...
but not cheap either...
for self-service fast food...
our bill came up to a total of 20bucks...
for 2 sets...
hiaks...
but it's seriously not bad...
i had the Western Bacon Cheeseburger...
and their iced tea is yummy too!
homemade!
walked around abit at the revamped Marina Square...
bought a bracelet for 5 bucks...
was tempted to get a bag...
but reckoned i could get something cooler and funkier from Taiwan...
i hope!
got a Maui and Sons tee too...
the one i reserved...
and they didnt call me about...
and he got one too...
so that they'll be 29bucks altogether...
not bad la...
love their paperbag...
will probably use it to death...
had my Yami Yoghurt as well...
guy stared at me...
dont you think it's damn small for 2.30?
oh well...
as long as it's YAMI...
read: yummy...

was a good day today...
would have been better if i managed to squeeze a couple of hours out to go wsfing with Godwin...
feel bad having to cancel on him...
the guy was so enthu about trying it out again...
makes me feel so happy...

17.7.05
woke up like super early today...
0630hrs on a Saturday is like FREAKING early...

sending Renhao off to NOC Shanghai bright and early in the morning...
poor guy didnt get to bring his rollerblades over...
haiz...
else he can skate skate skate everyday!
he'll be there for a year lor...
sooooOOoooo looonnnggg....
but so shiok!
will be a good and enriching experience...
look super good on resume too!

xinyi says i must work on taking photos on my own...
especially for taiwan...
yeah rite i say...
the guy refuses to be associated with me on my blog...
so he can take me and the scenery, all i want!
realise i dont have many photos of us together...
compared to other couples i know...
while i'd like to have those to look at sometimes...
i agree that nuthing beats seeing him in person...

dad and mum were working on the ST 160th Anniversary Mazda6 contest while waiting...
mum said she had a hunch that we'll win it...
so we stuck ourselves in the service roads of ECP...
just to put the contest form in...
called her to check at 1pm abt the results...
we didnt get it...
awwwww...
else i would ask for the car and hire a chauffeur...
slitty-eyed ones...

the mess after we salvaged the contest form from the paper...
it was madness la...
seeing adults crouching over UHU glue, pieces of paper and brandishing scissors...
things people do for freebies!

while stuck in the jam...
thought i should entertain myself taking artistic photos...
i seriously need a better camera...
this looks faaaaaaaarrrr from arty farty...

went to NUS to help out abit with USP Rag...
didnt do much...
but at least i managed to dismantle abit of the old structures...
so that we can use the materials for the new ones...
yippiez!
it was good getting to know the people involved as well...
met a AJSC junior...
a fellow Grp D engineer...
the 'boss' i've been crapping online with for so long...
and many many more...
look forward to more time together...
but that'll come AFTER taiwan...

met stella at buona vista to go bead shopping in holland village...
we got so beaded jewelry crazy that we wanted to make some ourselves...
found the shop rather easily...
but walked out empty-handed and very sad...
semi-precious stones are freaking expensive...
no wonder she charges so much for her work...
adjourned to Crystal Jade La Mien and Xiao Long Bao...
was stella's first time...
so we got two baskets of those yummy dumplings and a radish pastry...
ooh-la-la!
15bucks for the 2 of us...
it was my lunch...
but her high tea...
very very satisfied...
found some cheaper beads and jewelry making stuff in a cheaper place in AMK...
not exactly what i'm looking for...
but enought to curb my itchy fingers for some beadwork...

next up...
PC's place for BBQ...
few weeks since we met up...
my JC class...

ding and yxy at the fire...
they werent very sucessful la...

i decided to join in the fray...
purposefully candid-ed this pic...
so as to show that i was pseudo-hardworking...
pardon the aunty get-up...
i needed something that could take me airport-NUS-hollandV-BBQ...
and my judgement was impaired by the fact that i had 4 hrs of sleep and very tired eyes...
firemaking was exciting...
i put a moderately big charcoal in...
and they stared at each other...
so evil...
i got fire making experience one ok?
three days ago just make one leh...

i am very hardworking with regards to hotdogs...
maybe i was hungry...
but after the many baskets of xiao long baos...
i think i was just having fun with them...
as you can see in the next pic with my si dui tou YXY...

photo suitably cropped to remove what horrible arms i have...
but it's still there la...
while i like to think they're muscle...
it's far from the truth...
while i like to think i'm happy the way i am...
(i really do, so that i can NOT exercise)...
i like cropping photos to make myself feel better...

i dunnoe why the guys like taking pics in a line...
hilarious i tell you...
why cant they have more innovative poses?
at least a more artistic formation ya?
hopeless!

i think this is sweet...
me and my stella mary lioewanta...
we're practically steamed and roast chicken...
not very fun...
especially with my terrible tanline...
EEKS!

#1 of our disaster foods...
burnt dogs...
gosh...
they look really freaky ya?
coz i wasnt at the pit yet...
spent alot of time thereafter ...
coz i wanted to prevent total destruction of all hotdogs, crabmeat sticks, satay and otah...

#2...
thought these looked like eyes...
wahhaha...
damn funny...

PC the Red Indian...
were playing Red Indian Poker...
not sure if it's what it's called...
but putting a card on ur forehead seemed like a red indian thing to do...
point of the game is for the others to 'bluff' or 'help' you...
by telling you whether you should change your card...
and you cant see your card, of course...
unlimited changes...
alot laughter...

stella acting kelian...
far from it lor...
even though i trusted her with all my heart...
she actually betrayed my trust...
and bluffed me...
very sad...
orbi, that she get lousy card...

the girls that stayed most of the evening...
yeejing, stella and myself...
plus our lovely host, PC...
her dad kindly sponsored our evening...
feel bad...
it was great, girl...
thanks for organizing something like that for us...

15.7.05
the last couple of days saw us at the windsurfing freshmen camp...
although it wasnt too many of them...
it wasnt too bad really...
16 because we have limited equipment...
and no second camp coz of the multiple-of-6 constraints...
but i had a whale of time...
until my brain starting failing me on Day2 with a lack of sleep...
calls, forms, tees, briefings, salt-water swimming/drowning, hours of hot sun, teaching, money...
was abit too much to handle on 1 hr worth of sleep...
insomnia is bad on days like these...
grumpiness kicked in just before we broke camp...
many apologies to everyone...
and we werent having a agreement, kelvin...

camp participants...
and our people, of course...

girls huddled ard the fire to keep it from blowing out...
it was really funny...
but it works!

the little houses...
this was the foundation to a really good fire...
proud project of the guys...
it was practically roaring with fires by the time it was done...
the next pic doesnt exactly capture it...

the super-hot fire...
who needs the Human Torch?

the fire was ready...
but the food weren't here...
so we only had marshmellows to eat...
but i heard some guys saying they wont mind doing this all day if they had a truckload of it...
marshmellow madness!

BBQing madness...
yummy yummy yummy, i've got love in my tummy...

the award-winning chicken wing that i 'stole' from the freshies...
was pretty good i tell you...
wahhaha...

the hardworking BBQers - Part 1...
a recognition of the people who sacrificed oil-free faces to give us a wonderful dinner...

the hardworking BBQers - Part 2...
(though i was trying to keep Ben out of it...
'cause he was pretending to be hardworking...)

oh well...
i gave up...
the hardworking BBQers - Part 2...

resorting to zong ji mi ma to finish the food...
was ultra effective...
finished them in no time...

following are some of the people who were helped finish the delectable feast...

1. Mr i've-got-a-burnt-chicky-wing...
Kelvin Kek!

2. Mr Look Ma!-i'm-as-tanned-as-my-chicky-wing...
Weiming...

3. Mr plz-dont-make-me-eat-this...
Yaodong...

4. Miss finger-lickin'-good....
Pam...

5. Mr chicken-wing-down-the-throat-trick...
Dominic...

infectious zong ji mi ma...
3-in-1!
Ben, Winnie and Paul...

we're not exactly glad to eat these...
Liangwei, Yinghao and Renhao...

Lu and our prized hamper...
POSER!

break camp...the group photo...
everyone's squinting like mad...
it was like the 101th photo...
but i had to have my share of it...

the supposed candid shot...
i wonder what was xy trying to do to my head...

all in all...
it was a good camp...
not much time to interact with everyone...
but our objective was met...
we now have 16 more windsurfing newbies...
hope that they'll dig the sport as much as we do!
