thanks to ben k and his introduction of imdb.com to me a few weeks back...

Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd." -Alexander Pope =) was reading the first draft of the movie just now... it was darn different from the movie... wondering how it'll turn out should they make the movie from the first draft direct... but one point worthy of note in the first draft was that... an aged clementine went to Lacuna to get her memory of joel erased again... the records show that she had him erased for more than 15 times already... in a span 50 years... it isnt clear whether or not joel had her erased too... regardless... the issue is... how clear the message was... the message the movie wanted to portray... "...that true love will find its way..." 1) if joel had her erased as well... its amazing how their paths managed to cross again... as if their sub-conscious minds were struggling to hold on to all the memories they shared... that there was a void in their minds that they were dying to fill... like how they met for the second time... how first-time it actually felt... 2) if joel didnt erase her... (which was unlikely...should have seen the pain he was in...losing her...) it was amazing how he could get her to fall in love with him again and again... think: 50 first dates... and how he could endure the pain of knowing that someone would willingly erase him... but like sz mentioned in the tagboard... if you need to erase somebody... it oni goes to show that that somebody held a pivotal place in your heart... is that good or bad? you decide... there was a part of the movie that was cut out of its first draft... which i thought was good... when joel learnt that clementine went to Lacuna to erase him... there was a vague shot of a dictionary definition of the name... i din cut this from there... following definition from dictionary.com... la.cu.na - An empty space or a missing part; a gap. and tip for pple watching eternal sunshine... it might help to know that clem's hair colour goes green-orange-blue chronologically... now trying to get a pal to watch harry potter with me... cy's unit is on alert this weekend... high chance he'll be called back... so here i am with 2 potter tix... rene's watching it tonite... bernie's trying to re-schedule her saturday for me... how sweet... but if all else fails... i think i shall just do the unthinkable... and bring my little bro... i really dont mind bringing him out for meals or movies... in fact... i love to... but... on a saturday!??!?! to cine!?!?!? oh well... sometimes you have no choice... and not like it's cy's fault anyway... better that he tells me to find someone else now... then ciao-ing in the middle of the movie... leaving me all alone ya? oh well... plz bernie... ----Stef stopped rambling at 13:14 --Link to Post |
